Lynne Brewer Puetz

It's amazing to realize that it has been almost 40 years since the Southwest High School days. After high school I attended University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri S&T) where I received both BS and MS degrees in civil engineering. Along the way, I also picked up a MA in National Security from the US Naval War College.
I got married to Bill Puetz my sophomore year at Rolla and stayed married to him until he died in 1998. I've worked for the Department of Defense for more than 30 years in a variety of positions in a variety of places, including 3 stints in Washington, DC. I'm currently back in the St Louis area.
My older daughter Brittney is married and living in the St Louis area with her husband and 2 daughters. My younger daughter Katherine is married and living with her husband in Washington DC where she is a doctor at the VA hospital.
Outside of work, I have recently gotten active with Habitat for Humanity. I love to travel, play golf and I've become a rabid St Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
I retired from DoD shortly after the last reunion and have had no trouble filling my time. I travel a lot more with family and friends - to all parts of the world. All four of my grandchildren love close to me, and I enjoy being a rock star to them. I've been working part time delivering leadership classes to one of the intelligence agencies. I competed in my first Senior Olympics and won 3 gold medals - I am semi-officially the strongest old lady in St Louis. I sew, play golf and tennis, lift weights, read and renovate houses. In 2012 I was diagnosed with cancer. After surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, more chemotherapy (bald is not beautiful) I am now cancer free. I do not look one-tenth as good as I did in high school, but I am ten times more interesting.

I remember how the girls varsity field hockey team wore the cast off jerseys from the freshman boys football team. (pre Title IX) I also remember how I was afraid to run for student council - or anything else - because I was painfully shy and so sure no one would vote for me.

I'm especially looking forward to seeing anyone still living in the KC area. I'll be up there a lot over the next 6-12 months helping my sister build a new house and renovate her old one. I would really like to get to know people the way they are now instead of the way they were then.
