Profile Updated: February 26, 2018
Residing In Kansas City, MO USA
Spouse/Partner Married
Occupation Registered Investment Advisor
Children Two step-children.

I graduated from the University of Missouri's School of Journalism, '73. But never put the degree to good use. Instead I embarked on a career in investment brokerage and management first as a stock broker with firms in Kansas City and then in Los Angeles.

I broke from that career to seek adventure and took a position overseas with a U.S. company for a period of two years in Saudi Arabia.

I returned to the investment business working overseas in Bahrain, Pakistan and London for E F Hutton until 1986 when I returned home and worked for UMB Bank until 1999.

Since then, I have been self-employed in Kansas City, officing downtown where I handle equity portfolios on behalf of private client accounts.

School Story

I remember Winsteads on Friday night after a football game ordering from your car over a radio on the menu that I was always careful of handling since I was afraid of electrocution. The waitress would bring your food to you on a tray that would fit on the window of the car. There were always lots of cars full of friends.

I remember the car rallies on Saturday afternoons. The school clubs organized them, I think.

I remember a magical autumn night, in of all places the lagoon at Swope Park. I think we made a bonfire though I don't remember the occasion. It went on all night long and into the morning.

I remember always thinking we were the only true Kansas Citians that counted - Southwest… Interscholastic League. And mostly not knowing or caring where Lee’s Summit or Raytown or Oak Park was.

Happy Birthday to my old friend "swanky Frankie". Remember the road trip we made to Columbia the summer between our freshman & sophomore years in college? You recommended I consider transferring to Mizzou and joining your frat (I think it was Sigma Chi). Sounded like a good idea until we walked in the house and it looked like "Animal House on steroids" - HA!...

Regards, Woody

A recent photo of Letticia and I here on the road after a trip down the Colorado in the Grand Canyon. [I figured that in lieu of the upcoming reunion I better post a current picture of myself instead of one artificially enhanced with hair.]

I found This composite at my mother's home today. It represents our first grade class from Hale Cook Elementary, 1957-58. Since there are no names associated with the pictures I took a shot at remembering. If anyone could help assist in matching names to our little faces it would be terrific.

Here's what I think is correct:

Top Row: Bob Bruegging [3] Frank Swyden [9]
Second Row: Craig Eisenberg [1] Alan McDermott [2] Andy Sackin [3] Jeff Chappelow [4] Ron Guth [5] Ed Martin? [6]
Third Row: John Morgan? [1] Mrs. Livingston [4] Laurie Snedden [6] Kim Sprinkle [7]
Fourth Row: Judy Joel [3] Nancy Thomas [7]
Fith Row: Karen Kaplan? [4] Tiffany Willoughby

I got married twice. Here in KC in my bride's garden in view of friends and family on 10/22/11 and again in Playa Del Carmen with her Mexico City family on 11/12/11.
This was taken just prior to the ceremony with my bride Letticia and her son and daughter Alexander and Rowena.
I was dressed in the tradition of a Mexican groom.
Nobody told me about the black belt.
As a result, one friend described me as looking like a Steak n Shake waiter without the hat.

Our wedding was a bit unique since it was half her family from Mexico City with the remaining assorted gringos from the US.
But as typical of tourists everywhere we all equally fail prey to silly pictures such as this wearing absurdly large clown-sized sombreros.
Shots of tequlia most likely added to our compliance.
