Karen L Sessel, 75, of Topeka, KS, died Thursday, January 22, 2026. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests contributions to Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS. She was born January 15, 1951 to the late Joseph and Bernice Sessel, in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from High School in 1968 and received a Bachelorette degree from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Karen was a programmer/analyst with the Kansas Department of Revenue until she retired in 2003 and was passionate about teaching and communicating with people across many disciplines and backgrounds. She was an active member of Temple Beth Shalom Synagogue in Topeka, KS for many years, singing in the Kol Neshamah choir and cooking/volunteering at the Blintze Brunch every year for decades. She was an avid reader and loved learning new things. She loved animals and had a dachshund named Willy who was her faithful companion for the last 15 years of her life. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bernice Sessel. She is survived by her brother and sister: Paul Sessel and Barbara Machauf; and her son and daughter-in-law: Joe and Crysi Sessel of Topeka, KS and two grandchildren.
