What made her experience in the marathon so unique (and our experience being a part of her run) is that she ran the race with the daughter (a co-worker) of one of the Secret Service agents killed in the blast. He had actually been assigned to the World Trade Center and was in the Trade Center at the time of the first bombing. He moved his family to Oklahoma for a quieter life and was killed 7 months later. This friend's husband is also a Secret Service agent and I spent several hours talking with him while waiting for 'our runners' to finish the marathon. It gave me a unique perspective on the tragedy. He also shared some behind the scenes stories of about being a 'g' man!

Not sure whether or not I will be attending. My daughters and I were in KC the last weekend in April...youngest daughter ran the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and on our way out to OKC she treated me to a couple of nights stay on the Plaza. (oh those Winstead burgers) On the trip we drove nearly 3000 miles in 5 days (I don't fly) so I'm not sure if I can convince them to do the trip again so soon!
